Zofia Wyszomirska-Noga

London, United Kingdom
I love to work in seclusion but I also need to observe, watch, overhear and talk to people in order to have inspiration.

I am inspired by childhood, ephemeral and magic; and also by motherhood and womanhood as universal aspects of our humanity. Everybody was a child once, this is what we all share.

Motherhood is another motive I like to explore, therefore I've created series of Madonnas inspired by dramatic stories of women forced to feed their owner's babies in horrible times of slavery when the act of love was turned into humiliation and suffering. This is depicted in the symbolic form of Madonna Lactans (Nursing Madonna).

I illustrate my feelings and impressions, working with various techniques on paper ranging from small formats to oversized, carpet-like paper formats. I do like to work in series and use multiplications but the final creation is always unique because I do believe in intuitive hands-on creation when the materials and their properties influence the way we interpret our artistic visions.

I am a graduate of the Academy of Arts in Torun, Poland, I am a painter, illustrator, and art conservator. My studio is based in East London.
